|1||Noted scholar and conductor of Broadway shows; it was he who was one of the first to bring to public attention (in 1987) the incredible discovery, in a Seacaucus, New Jersey warehouse, of the original versions of the scores of many Broadway shows by the most noted composers and lyricists of the musical theatre. Many of these original versions were presumed lost forever. He recorded several of them on CD in what are the first recorded versions of the scores in their original form as seen and heard on opening night .Among them are "Show Boat", "Kiss Me Kate", "Annie Get Your Gun", and "Brigadoon", as well as little-known musicals, such as Kern's "Sitting Pretty". His world-premiere recordings of the complete score of Victor Herbert's "Babes in Toyland" and Kern's "Have a Heart" were supposed to be released sometime in the (hopefully) near future. They were his first complete recordings of Broadway scores in more than ten years. However, McGlinn's death in 2009 probably has put a damper on whether or not these recordings will ever be made available to the public. As of May 2011, both recordings remain unreleased, even online, and there is scant information about them available, although the actual recording of "Babes in Toyland" has been apparently finished, according to internet sources.|
